“Women in Parallel Empires: Together, Afar” Presentation @ IAWM, Oregon State University

Through Women in Parallel Empires, their acousmatic video work which premiered in 2021, Jane Rigler and Tessa Brinckman discuss their ongoing remote artistic collaborations which are infused with feminist performance theory in practice, de-colonization and space, critiques of our relationship as artists to our subject matter, and all bodies as biology and culture. They will be presenting remotely, from Colorado Springs and NYC respectively, demonstrating one of many paths to remote creative connection.

Every three years, the International Alliance for Women in Music brings together performers, composers, scholars, innovators, conductors, audio engineers, improvisors, theorists, to celebrate, challenge, and transform our future through music.Hosted by Oregon State University, in association with OSU’s College of Liberal Arts and the Office of Academic Affairs, the IAWM conference will be an in-person event with virtual satellite events from across the globe.
